Weight/Build: Athletic/muscular. He keeps himself in shape, because sometimes merely waltzing out the door isn’t always an option.
Magic: Blood. But has a casual interest in other types of magic.

WORLD
Malcolm comes from a world built on a monarchy of steampunk and magic. Any person who hails from a noble family possesses some form of magical ability, divided into several elemental classes: fire, water, air, earth, light, dark, and - though many people dispute whether it could be considered magic or not - blood.
(Side note: Malcolm isn't a noble. He's the bastard son of one though, born in the slums of the capital city.)
BASICS
So he lives on his airship, the El Dorado. He’d marry her if he could.
His public persona is that of an airship captain who transports goods for merchants. He's small-time compared to other transport-class vessels, not quite successful but getting there. It's a well-known fact around the various ports that Malcolm was once a member of the Sparrows (a crime syndicate), so he usually only entertains business with a certain type of clientele. (He left the Sparrows when he was a young man, however.)
While Malcolm takes an active interest in his transporting business, it's basically a front for his less than law-abiding activities. And being a transporter means that it’s not unusual to see the El Dorado at whatever dock it happens to be at. Beats having to pay his way around ships and having to cut out loose tongues later (as he learned quite early on in his career).
On top of that, there’s all the blood magey-ness. It happens to be a passion of sorts for Malcolm.
PERSONALITY
He basically has some very morally ambiguous tendencies - cleverly disguised ones. His conscience is seriously selective, as he does have a strict code of values and principles that he adheres to... just kinda skewed ones. He rarely bothers with remorse, nor is he truly capable of empathy. Don’t get him wrong. He might be able to pity you but he won’t feel sorry enough about it that he’ll be moved to help you. He’s the kind of dude who will help you out but only if he can benefit from it, so don’t buy too much into his act.
Malcolm is an actor and an excellent liar. He’s been doing it for so long that it just comes naturally to him. He blends into crowds, makes himself fit in, because standing out is more dangerous than merely being noticed for good looks. But Mal knows who he is and where the lies end, a lot of other people don’t.
Manipulative? Sometimes.
He’s exceedingly polite. He prefers not to be overly familiar with people, which is why it’s Mr. Sumner or Miss Rhastam and not Wassup, qurl, let’s grab for a drink for the hell of it and talk about our feelings. There are only a handful of people that he considers himself to be on first-name basis with: Olivia, Maddy, and his yet-to-be named first officer/mate on his ship.
People. Okay, so people in relation to Malcolm. He doesn’t “care” about people in the traditional sense. Sure, he might consider you a close acquaintance, but does that mean he’s loyal to you? Hell no, son.
For him, respect and loyalty are on entirely different planes of existence. He doesn’t respect someone unless that person can prove that they exceed him in some capacity. And just because he respects you don’t necessarily means he likes you. Malcolm doesn’t like to be outclassed in any capacity where he considers himself a master. Arrogant? Sure, but that doesn’t make it any less true.
People are more like assets to him. He protects his assets. If that asset no longer serves a purpose, then Malcolm might not be so inclined to help a brother out. So don’t stop being useful.
He treats most people the same - polite, sometimes charming, sometimes witty, but always neutral. He tends to be diplomatic and rarely meddles in the affairs of others, unless he has a personal interest in developing a certain kind of relationship with somebody.
His ambitious nature is what makes him dangerous. “Too far” doesn’t really exist for him when there is something he wants - this is usually not a simple material possession, like a rare book or a diamond - but a goal that ultimately serves a purpose, that makes him a better something. Which is probably why he doesn’t make an ideal blood mage since it’s always about wanting to learn more.
Malcolm works hard in all his pursuits. He never settles for second-best.
